Privacy Policy
Sonic Tax USA LLC · Effective October 30, 2026
Sonic Tax USA LLC ("Sonic Tax USA," "we," "us") provides tax preparation services and, through Boolean Global, credit-review and credit-building services. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use and protect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, client portal, and our official Facebook and Instagram accounts.
Information we collect
Depending on the services you use, we may collect:
- Contact and identity details: your name, email address, phone number, mailing address and date of birth.
- Tax return information you or your household provide: Social Security or taxpayer identification numbers, income and withholding documents (such as W-2 and 1099 forms), dependents, deductions, filing status, and refund-delivery details.
- Credit-review information (for Boolean Global clients): the last four digits of your Social Security number, a copy of a government-issued ID, and the credit reports you choose to upload.
- Documents, signatures and messages you send us through the portal, email, text message or social media.
- Payment information. Card payments are processed by Stripe; we do not receive or store your full card number.
- Information from Facebook and Instagram: when you message our Page or Instagram account or comment on our posts, we receive the content of your message or comment, your public profile name and ID, and basic information about how our posts perform. We use only what Meta makes available to us.
- Technical information: device and browser type, IP address and log data, and cookies needed to keep you signed in securely.
How we use your information
- To prepare, review and file tax returns, and to deliver credit-review and dispute services you asked for.
- To communicate with you about your account, appointments, documents, signatures, invoices and the status of your work, including by email, text message and push notification.
- To process payments and send receipts.
- To answer messages and comments you send us on Facebook and Instagram.
- To keep our systems and your data secure, prevent fraud and enforce our terms.
- To meet legal, tax, accounting and regulatory obligations.
- To improve our services. We use AI-assisted tools to help read documents and draft content; people review the results, and we do not sell your information to AI providers.
- To send marketing messages, only where you have agreed or where the law allows. You can opt out at any time.
Tax return information
Federal law (Internal Revenue Code section 7216 and its regulations) restricts how tax return preparers may use and disclose tax return information. We use and disclose your tax return information only to prepare and file your return, as you direct, or as the law permits or requires. We will ask for your written consent before using it for any other purpose, such as marketing a different service.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Taxing authorities and, where you choose a refund product, the participating bank and its processors, in order to file your return and deliver your refund.
- Credit bureaus and creditors, when we send disputes or requests on your behalf (Boolean Global clients).
- Service providers who work for us under confidentiality obligations, such as secure hosting and database providers, payment processing (Stripe), email and messaging delivery, bot protection, document storage, and AI-assisted document processing.
- Meta Platforms, Inc., to the extent you communicate with us on Facebook or Instagram; Meta's own privacy policy governs what it collects.
- Professional advisers, regulators or law enforcement when required by law or to protect rights and safety.
- A successor business, if we are ever involved in a merger or sale, subject to this policy.
How we protect information
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including encrypted connections, access controls limited to staff who need the information, multi-factor authentication for our team, and encryption of especially sensitive fields. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send full Social Security numbers by email, text or social media message. Use the secure portal instead.
How long we keep information
We keep information as long as needed to provide our services and to meet legal and professional requirements. Tax return records are generally kept for the period the law requires, and may be kept longer where necessary. When we no longer need information, we delete or de-identify it.
Your choices and rights
- Access and correct: ask us what we hold about you, or to fix mistakes.
- Delete: request deletion of your information on our data deletion page. We may need to keep records the law requires us to retain.
- Opt out of marketing: use the unsubscribe link in any email, or reply STOP to a text message.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws, such as the right to know, correct, delete and limit the use of sensitive information. We honor these requests as the law requires.
Text messages
If you give us your mobile number, we may text you about your account and appointments. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.
Children
Our services are for adults. We collect information about a child only as part of a parent or guardian's tax return (for example, a dependent) and we do not knowingly collect information from children for any other purpose.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the effective date above and, for material changes, notify you through the portal or by email.
